Compare the valley’s regional difficulty, choose a landmark and continue to the quest, person or encounter you need. This directory covers nine surface regions, Greifberg Castle and Anachora.
Compare base NPC level ranges
These ranges describe base NPC levels for the region. They are not a required level for Coen, and named encounters, difficulty settings or quest conditions may differ. Greifberg Castle has its own range. Anachora has no range listed here.

Vrakhir afterlife
Anachora
Anachora is the hostile afterlife connected to vrakhiri souls. Lacra’s memory journey and Brencis’s later battle both lead beyond the ordinary valley.
Prepare for the journey
Our Rotten Roots follows Lacra here after Hive and Seek. Shadowstep and Planeshift support the route across gaps and floating platforms; avoid the red vines.
Apparitions cannot be blood-fed upon. Prepare another recovery method for groups that mix ghost soldiers with vidmo or hellhounds. The questline guide covers the sequence through Isbrand’s memories.

Region
Boar's Back
Bakir’s forested domain surrounds an abandoned quarry and suspected manumit hideouts. Its base NPC range is 22–30.

Plan a visit
Boar’s Back Tower is a useful regional landmark. A Friend Like This and Bakir’s Court activities give different reasons to travel through the woods; check the current quest warning before treating the region range as a combat target.
Shrike’s Crag was once a quarry and later the site of Skender’s massacre of rebellious peasants. That history gives context to the hideouts and unrest in the surrounding forest.

Region
Briar Sloughs
Between Laslea and Svartrau, Briar Sloughs combines eastern wetlands with the soldiers and fortifications around Stoneward Post. Base NPC levels run from 8 to 16.
- Base NPC levels
- 8–16
Choose a route through the region
Use Briar Sloughs Crossing and the scouting towers as landmarks. A Bulwark Against Darkness, Roadside Surprise and the Murohn Blood route serve separate objectives here.
Prison Keychain also opens two shortcut gates at Stoneward Post. Check the active edict and the objective’s time-of-day requirement before combining several stops.

Castle
Greifberg Castle
Greifberg is Brencis’s stronghold and the prison holding Coen’s family. Its base NPC range of 36–50 is separate from the lower range in Svartrau City.
- Base NPC levels
- 36–50
Prepare before entering
Compare the solo and companion assault routes in the ending guide and keep a manual save before departure. A Lone Wolf’s Hunt approaches at night with Shadowstep over the front wall; this approach does not require the side-gate key.
The upper approach includes The Unblinking Blasphemy. Inside, the upper prison guards and the lower hellhound handler carry different cell keys. Search the relevant bodies and open the cells before continuing to the final chamber.

Region
Laslea Glen
Laslea Glen is Coen’s home region and the valley’s lowest base NPC range, 1–3. The village links the opening family story with local investigations.
- Base NPC levels
- 1–3
Start around the village
Use Laslea as the first map anchor, then follow the journal entries for Bad Blood, Blasphemy and Deep Down. Their conditions and warnings still matter within the low regional range.
Silver mining once supported the village. After Brencis closed the mines, farming, herding and food for winter became central concerns for its residents.

Ambrus and the surrounding forest
The village, tower and watchtower provide distinct map landmarks. Ambrus’s Court activities, Iulian’s ritual and the duel invitation form a useful set of related objectives.
The Gilded Gauntlet’s bell is above Maragir. Finish The Bittersweet Toast preparations first if you intend to use the poisoned drink.

Mountain region
Rockfalls
Rockfalls is the steep highland region known for unstable slopes and Uriashi settlements. Base NPC levels range from 24 to 32.
- Base NPC levels
- 24–32
Use landmarks in the highlands
Rockfalls Pasture and the scouting tower help orient a trip through the mountains. Regional quests include Bakir’s activities, treasure hunts and one of the sword-shard investigations.
Forge It Anew’s Hostile Takeover activity concerns the Rockfalls nest. Follow the quest and its component record when collecting sword pieces for Nareh.

Convent and Anca’s quests
The convent, chapterhouse and towers are separate map landmarks. Echoes of Silenced Bells leads to Leonica and a decision about lifting the curse.
Anca’s later search for the Font of Life continues through other ruins and a trial. Use Stronger Than Achilles for that reward choice; the convent ritual does not settle it.

City
Svartrau City
Svartrau brings together the market at Altenmarkt, wealthy Silberstein, the Middens and Neustadt. The urban region’s base NPC range is 17–25.
- Base NPC levels
- 17–25
Plan shops and investigations
City visits can combine merchants, the cathedral investigation and quests such as A Study in Crimson. Check edicts before relying on ordinary prices, patrol behaviour or gate access.
Greifberg Castle has its own higher range and final-assault conditions. Prepare for it separately from a normal city visit.

Region
Tantari Woods
Tantari is the centre of a Tatar community whose history in the valley reaches back to Batu-khan’s army. The surrounding woods have base NPC levels of 31–39.
- Base NPC levels
- 31–39
Choose a landmark and objective
Tantari village and the woodland have separate map entries. A Deal with the Devil and Ancient Circle activities offer different reasons to visit this high-level region.
The base range helps compare the area with nearby regions; it does not set a single player-level requirement for every conversation or quest.

Region
The Silts
The Silts combines Xanthe’s fiefdom with Bakir’s Lunar Manor. Its base NPC levels are 29–37, with major Court confrontations reached through separate quest routes.
- Base NPC levels
- 29–37
Keep the two boyar routes distinct
Xanthe’s activities lead toward The Cycle of Love and the lantern passages in Howling Keep. Bakir’s anger instead draws Coen into The Lunar Game.
Use the regional map marker to orient the journey, then choose the named quest and its current conditions. A boyar’s presence in the region does not make every local objective part of that confrontation.

Plan around the active objective
Combine nearby stops only after checking their day or night conditions and journal warnings. Edicts can alter city access and merchant interactions, while some quests advance the campaign clock.
The map handles individual markers and exploration progress. Use the directory for regional orientation and the linked quest or guide for its full sequence. Anachora is a separate realm and is not assigned a surface coordinate.
